5/20/11-The Blues finished their forth game of the season, hanging on to a 21-14 win versus Gulf Coast Riptide. They come off of a bye weekend, with the strong desire to continue this record.  As the team works through plays and hours of studied film, it's apparent they are not taking this game for granted.  They take on the 2-2 Orlando Anarchy on Saturday night.  The Blues defeated Orlando in Game 3. However, Orlando is riding high from a big win(42-14) against the Gulf Coast Riptide this past weekend.  Focus, hard work, determination, and most importantly, teamwork are driving Jacksonville's women's football team going into Game 5.

6/27/10-The excitement started before Round 1 of the WFA playoffs even kicked off Saturday night. The Blues came out for their pre-game warm-up, but before kickoff began, a light show and loud thunder controlled the sky.  After a few close lightning strikes, the officials began their weather watching. The Blues headed back into the locker room to wait out the heavy thunderstorm.  After a 2 1/2 hour weather delay, the Blues headed back out to take on the Region III wildcard, Central Fl. Anarchy.  The Blues won the toss and quickly got set up to start the quarter. Central Florida came out with nothing to lose and quickly showed the Blues there were going to be here all night.  They quickly stopped the drive.  Blues punted to Anarchy who quickly drove down the field and scored putting up the first score for the night.  Blues came back and scored, but once again, the Anarchy answered.  For the first time in a couple of years,  the Blues were down at the half, 13-8.

The Blues approached the field after the half with a new fire and energy. They came out quickly and dominated.  On the first play of the third quarter, #8 Lay drove down the field on a 52-yard run for a touchdown.  It looked as though the Blues were playing their game again. And that they continued to do, With score after score, the Blues were back!  Mack laid a up a melon to wide open Hopper for a 35 yard touchdown reception. The defense wasn't about to let the Anarchy gain any momentum, and continued to stop every attempt.  During a red zone stand, rookie CB #6 Helen Kilfoyle prevented three consecutive passes in the endzone.  The Blues brought a storm of their own, finishing Round 1 with a must win 47-13!  Blues will be home on July 10 to take on a new opponent in the WFA National Conference.

6/19/10-After a stellar undefeated regular season, the Blues are headed to the playoffs.  As the Division Region III leaders, they will take on the wildcard Central Florida Anarchy once again on June 26 at 7:00p at University Christian.

"We can't underestimate the Anarchy.  They are the toughest team in our region, and continue to improve through each game." says head coach Don Braddock.  The Blues have met Central Florida in the regular season and have come out on top.  This game will be different, as the winner will advance to the second round of playoffs on July 10, on the road to the WFA's National Championship in Las Vegas.  "Everything is on the line from here on out.  We need to be on top of every aspect of our game," says Mack, Dixie Blues quarterback ranked second in the nation.

Come out and support your Blues!  They want all fans to bring the NOISE!!  The fans carry the Blues through the entire game! See you there!

6/12/10-St.Pauls, NC  The Blues travelled up I-95 to Fayetville, NC to take on the Carolina Raging Wolves.  The Blues came up against a much improved group of ladies.  "The Wolves are a brand new team this year, but they have shown much improvement since we saw them last," says head coach Don Braddock.  "They came out of the locker room much better prepared, and moved the ball."

The Blues put up seven points within a few minutes of the start.  Carolina answered after an interception from #28 Natasha Nelson, then drove down the field scoring their only touchdown in the game.  Soon the Dixie Blues heir found rhythm quickly putting up 21 points in the first quarter.  The ladies put up some fantastic numbers.  Runningback #23 Robinson scored five touchdowns in the game, rushing for 331 yards.  QB #33 Mack stroked a lazer to WR #8 Lay for a 40 yard pass and touchdown.  The defense shut down the pass with an interception from CB #4 Erin Hopper.  They pressured the run with 11 tackles for a loss, and a forced fumble and recovery by DE #22 Brandi Bass with a 60-yard return adding to the Blues collection of touchdowns. After the Blues defensive score, Carolina lost steam.  The ladies put up a great fight, showing an incredible improvement from the beginning of the season.  The Blues headed back to Jacksonville, putting the lid on the regular season, with an 8-0 record.  They have secured homefield advantage at home on June 26.  Their opponent will be determined after Region III play is complete on June 19.

6/5/10-The Blues once again dressed in their custom pink jerseys for a great cause.  They didn't take this game lightly though.  This game was not only a fundraiser, but a regular season game against a new team that has continued to improve with each match-up.  The last time the Blues met the Tampa Bay Pirates, they were in Tampa and played a strong game. But with any season, teams continue to improve and that Tampa did. Tampa came out of the gates strong, stoping the Blues in their first couple of series.  But as the Blues do, they came back strong putting up great numbers by all players. The offense was able to move the ball on the ground most of the night, utilizing six different ball carriers.  Robinson led with 11 carries for 147 yards and three touchdowns. The defense was able to stop the Pirates only allowing 6 point for the entire night.  They didn't allow for much passing from Tampa.  Cornerback, Jennifer Dickert lead tackles with seven for the night followed by LB Betsy Evans with five.  The Blues not only finished strong with a 42-6 win, but also raised a lot of money for the Donna Foundation. Thank you Jamie Rodgers from First Command Financial Services for making this fundraiser happen.

On June 5th, 2010, the Blues will be playing in the 2nd Annual Pink Game, brought to you by First Command Financial Services.  This is a special game as proceeds from the game will once again go to the Donna Foundation, supporting breast cancer survivors.  Come out and cheer on the 6-0 Dixie Blues and help fight breast cancer!

4/24/10-The Blues hit the high seas, ready to take on the Tampa Bay Pirates.  Tampa was buzzing off of their first pilferage of North Carolina.  Blues worked hard all week, prepared to take on anything the Pirates would attempt.  The Blues fought the Pirates as soon as they reached the ship. From kickoff there was no turning back.  Within minutes the Blues scored.  The offense was relentless, scoring on every possession.  Veteran quarterback Brantley Mack connected on a 30 yard pass to rookie #1 Lauren Church, allowing Mack on the next play to sneak in for a score. Running back, Michelle Robinson ripped off a 77 yard run into the endzone, adding 1 of her 3 scores to a collection of touchdowns.  The defense shut out the Pirates, barely allowing them to move the ball.  They kept the Pirates at bay as defensive end Kristann Bell stopped them with three tackles deep in the backfield.  Betsy Evans lead the defense with tackles, and put the Pirates back on their ship, walking their own plank.
Jacksonville 63  Tampa 0

4/17/10-In front of a packed house at Univ Christian,  the Blues approached their new home field with such urgency, ready to get the season rolling.  In a last minute change in the schedule,  the Blues were going to face their opponent in back to back games.  The Central Florida Anarchy came prepared.  Central Florida deferred the kick and the Blues had first posession.  They quickly scored, but the Anarchy came back just a quick, putting up a matching touchdown.
This game was going to be close, and the Blues had to step up and bring everything to the table.  And that they did.  The Anarchy tried moving the ball, but the Blues defense was invincible in the red zone.  The would not allow another score for the remainder of the night.  With two interceptions from veterans #32 George German, and #7 Jennifer Dickert, the defense kept the Anarchy at bay.  Rookie DL #53 Ellea Gilbert, stepped up with 5 tackles keeping the defensive line difficult to penetrate.  The offense showed their talent with Mack connecting with a handful of receivers.  The second half proved to be a game on the ground with Lay and Robinson putting up a combined 265 yards rushing for the night.  The Blues showed the fans that they are eager to get closer to the championship by putting another win on the books.

4/11/10-Orlando, FL  The Jacksonville Dixie Blues travelled just a few hours south to take on the Central Florida Anarchy in the first game of the 2010 season.  The Central Florida Anarchy are new to WFA, but not new to women's football.  A team made up of veteran players and talented rookies, the Anarchy gave the Dixie Blues a tough night of football.

The Anarchy won the toss and deferred.  The Blues took the kickoff and began moving down the field.  The Blues fumbled the ball on the first play, giving the Anarchy an opportunity to move the ball with good field position.  The Blues defense quickly stopped their opponents, by forcing a punt, allowing the offense to drive down the field for their first touchdown.  After a couple of possesion changes, the defense forced another punt allowing #8 Isis Lay to return a 45 yard run for the teams second score.  As the teams headed to the lockers rooms for halftime, the Blues secured a lead of 27-6.

Second half brought a fresh team and a new start to the evening.  The Blues defense continued to keep the Anarchy at bay.  They held them to only six more points in the second half.  Blues defensive captain #24 Melissa Schoolcraft lead the team with 9.5 tackles.  The offense put up two more touchdowns, before the end of the game, with quarterback #33 Brantley Mack throwing for 247 yards for the night.  The Anarchy never backed down, continuing to come back strong until the final whistle, proving they will be a great contender for Region III.

Jacksonville 41  Central Florida 13

4/2/10-  Jacksonville's premier women's football team has found a home at University Christian School.  After contract renegotiations were unsuccessful with the prior venue, the Jacksonville Dixie Blues were forced to find a new home field.  UC has been gracious enough to help them out.

The team has been working hard to prepare for the upcoming season.  The field situation put some stress on the team with concerns of not having a field to play on this year. They can rest assured that their only concerns from now on with be that of their opponents.  The Blues first home game will be April 17 at 7:00p at University Christian 5520 University Blvd W.

The Dixie Blues are beginning their 9th season in Jacksonville and are looking to add more talent.  Do you have what it takes?  We want to see you?  There is no experience necessary.

Congratulations to the St. Louis Slam on their win this past weekend in New Orleans.  They defeated the West Michigan Mayhem in the 2009 WFA National Championship 21-14.  For more information, visit the WFA League website for the full story.

The Blues arrived in St. Louis from an early morning flight, got settled in and began to prepare for the American Conference game. The senses were quiet, but calm and settled.  Most of the conversations were game strategy.  As the team arrived at Oakville High School, the senses hightened.

In front of a large crowd, the second round of playoffs began.  The St. Louis Slam came out of the blocks and put up 12 points in the first quarter.  Jacksonville answered in the second quarter as QB Brantley Mack passed to Kim 'Rocky' Brown for a 20 yd run for a touchdown.  For the remainder of the 2nd quarter, both teams traded scores, showing a lot of talent. As Mack passed one to WR Michelle Robinson for a 29 yards for a touchdown, so did Slam, with a 1 yard punch in for six and a 2-point conversion.  At the half, the score was 26-13.

The Blues came back at the half putting up another touchdown, closing the Slam's lead to only six points.  But that only lasted for a moment as the Slam again scored, putting the lead back up by fourteen.  As both teams reached the fourth quarter, they knew that it was going to come down to only a few points.  And that it did, The Blues attempted an onside kick with 5 minutes left in the game, to try to gain some edge.  The kick was perfect, but the Slam recovered it.  They marched down the field, eating up time and running the clock to a final score of 40-32.

The Blues are eager to take a rest and begin the off-season, but will be taking this game with them into the 2010 season.  They believe this will only make them stronger and ready for playoffs next year.

Your still undefeated Jacksonville Dixie Blues will be travelling to Missouri to take on the St. Louis Slam.  Both teams will meet to determine who will not only claim title as the WFA American Conference winners, but will be heading to New Orleans to play in the National Championship.

In the quest for the national title, the Blues are raising funds for travel to St. Louis, and by the grace of the football gods, beyond.  If you are interested in helping Jacksonville's premier women's football team, please check our contact page for information.

We would like to thank everyone that has helped the Dixie Blues this season.  We wouldn't be successful without you!

7/12/09-The first round of playoffs began like any regular season game.  Both teams arrive, pregame warm-up, national anthem, fans cheering, and then kickoff.  The only difference is that the winner of this game advances to the American Conference title game.  Both teams were powerhouses in their region and eager to conquer and advance.  The energy was high on both sidelines.  Both teams prepared for two weeks for this moment.

The Dixie Blues won the toss.  And in just two plays took a long run for a touchdown. That began the scoring frenzy by the Blues.  Austin Outlaws, known as the Dark Defense, could not stop the run, the pass, or anything Jacksonville put in front of them. By the end of the first quarter, the Blues had put up 21 points.   The defense was relentless stopping Austin at every turn allowing no score in the entire first half.

As both teams approached the field at the second half, it was obvious that the Blues were just as fresh as they were at the beginning of the game.  They came out re-energized and ready to take on the Outlaws.  And that they did.  QB Brantley Mack connected with a several passes to Farrah Faucette(I sware).  Kim Brown punched up and down the field, and Isis Lay burned a streak down the turf.  With the powerful help of DE Kristann Bell, the defense wore down the Outlaws.  With two interceptions from DB Erin Hopper and LB Melissa Schoolcraft, the Blues were quickly on their way to yet another win.  Austin was able to put up 2 touchdowns in the second half, but it was not enough to catch Jacksonville.  The final was score was 55-14.  Jacksonville advances to the second round of playoffs against St. Louis Slam.

07/10/09-The Dixie Blues host the Austin Outlaws this Saturday night July 11 at The Bolles School.  Both teams come in as division winners Austin 7-1, Blues 8-0.  Austin has proven their domination in the Southwest Division with at big defensive front.  The Dixie Blues have worked hard for the past two weeks studying and getting ready for some Texas football.

Coach Don Braddock readied the team last night in their last practice before Saturday nights game.  "Girls, we have worked hard to get where we are.  There are only eight teams left in the country.  We are shaking up the milk bottle, and letting the cream rise to the top," says Braddock.  "We haven't peaked yet. We are only getting better."  The energy on the practice field was intense.  Concentration is stronger and the burning desire to succeed was obvious.

**Another challenge has been set, the Blues challenge you to fill the stands once again.  This will be our final appearance at home this season.  Come season 3-time national champions on the quest for No. 4!  Admission is $10. Children 10-under are free. Professionalism, Talent, Sportsmanship! Let's go all the way!

06/30/09-In a effort to be the best in the WFA, you must work harder, play smarter and most importantly, be a team.  Saturday night that is what the Dixie Blues did.  Both teams had a lot at stake.  Region III champs would prevail at the end of this game. In order for either team to advance to the playoffs, a win was necessary.  The Blues were coming into the game undefeated, and the Riptide only had one loss, to the Blues, earlier in the season. The Riptide came prepared to break the streak.  The Blues came to defend their turf.  At kickoff Gulf Coast gained first posession.  They immediately began to move the ball.  With a handoff to their leading rusher #40 Lakeisha Johnson, they started to burn up yardage.   The Dixie Blues defense quickly jammed up their rush and forced a punt.  At first posession WFA top ranked QB #33 Brantley Mack launched a 43-yard pass into the hands of reciever #8 Isis Lay on the run and into the endzone  The first score was on the board.  Gulf Coast answer by driving down the field and scoring as well.  It was apparent that the Riptide would use the run most of the night to move the ball.  The Blues defenses' approach was to stop it.  And that they did with over 100 tackles, with the help of #2 Kim 'Rocky' Brown for 20% of them.

The Blues offense proved to be calm under pressure putting up 25 of 37 points, and the defense  continued to pressure the Riptide only allowing 14 points for the night.  This was probably the most exciting game of the regular season.  Two of the WFA American Conference Southeast powerhouses driving to be on top, but only one would prevail, Jacksonville Dixie Blues 37-Gulf Coast Riptide 14.

The Blues advance to the first round of playoff with home field advantage on July 11 taking on the Austin Outlaws.  Come out for even more exciting football and support a new era in women's football!

The Jacksonville Dixie Blues would like to invite all active duty military to attend our last regular season game for free admission with valid military ID.  We would also like to challenge the fans and all Jacksonville and surrounding area residents to attend this home game and beat our attendance record from the PINK game.  Lots of prizes to give away, raffle tickets available at the game.  Come on Jacksonville, the Blues are chasing the playoffs and this game should prove to be the most exciting game of 2009!   We will also have bins set up at the gate where fans and players can donate items to ship overseas to Florida's own 779th Engineer Battalion HQ who recently left out of Tallahassee for a year long deployment.  Come show your support for our troops and Jacksonville's premier women's football team!

6/21/09-The Blues made the long trip to Memphis, TN on Friday night. The 13 hour trip proved to be nothing more than a short trip around the corner.  The Blues arrived at NSA Mid-South Varsity Field in Millington, TN ready to take on a more seasoned Memphis Belles team.  Kickoff started at 5:00p with a heat index of 105'. That heat fueled the fire for the Blues. They began to move the ball and started to run ablaze up and down the field.  This game proved to be the toughest defense the Dixie Blues have put on the field.  The Jacksonville defense shut out the Belles in the first half.  They fought hard in the red zone preventing Memphis from scoring from the 2 yard-line.  The Belles began to warm up the second half, showing their ability to put pressure on the Dixie Blues offense.  They allowed only one touchdown the second half, but wasn't enough to stop the undefeated Blues from putting yet another mark on the win side!  Jacksonville 34-Memphis 6.

We would like to thank Memphis Belles for their generosity on and off the field.  They certainly portray great sportsmanship on the field, and generous hospitality off the field.  It's great to be able to share off the field what we fight for on the field, success in women's football.  Thank you Zak and company!

6/19/09-The 6-0 Blues are heading up to Millington, TN to take on the 4-3 Memphis Belles.  The Blues are eager to continue their streak, and have prepared for a great match up.  The Belles have had a  good season and continue to strengthen.    They will be playing at 5:00p NSA Mid-South Varsity Field Hornet Ave. Millington, TN 38053.  Check out the WFA website for scores and updates after the game.

06/14/09-As luck would have it, a last minute Florida thunderstorm rolled in Saturday evening, prior to game start.  After a 40-minute rain delay, the Blues and the Blaze took the field.  The first quarter started out slow as both teams traded posessions for half of the first quarter. Once the clouds separated, the Blues brought there own thunder.  They began to show their talents with tremendous running by #2 Kim 'Rocky' Brown, #33 QB Brantley Mack's cannon, hitting #88 Farrah Faucette on the run across the field, and a laser to #8 Isis Lay.  The rookies showed some amazing veteran abilities with #4 FB Erin Hopper delivering 4 hard blocks on one play, allowing Brown a 48-yd touchdown run. With help from our rookie kicker, #73 Vanessa Phillips-Bosehart, 100% accuracy added 6 PAT's to the score. The Dixie Blues defense was relentless stopping the run, causing negative yardage, and keeping the Blaze at bay.  The New Orleans defense didn't show any signs of weekness as they punched through for four sacks.  'They made us work hard for every yard, and didn't show any signs of backing down,' says QB Brantley Mack.  The Blues held the Blaze from scoring, and ended with 42-0 score.  The ladies head to Memphis on June 19  to take on the 4-3 Belles.

06/03/09-The New Orleans Blaze meet the Dixie Blues in Jacksonville this weekend.  The Cresent City sends there women's team here to take on the WFA Region III leaders at Bolles School at 7:00p on Saturday, June 13.  Come cheer on the Blues.  Lets make this the biggest crowd yet!  Tell everyone!

The Jun-6 GAME RESCHEDULED!

The June 6 game versus the Emerald Coast Barracudas will be rescheduled for a future date.  We will keep you updated.  We apologize for this date change.  Due to circumstances beyond our control, we will not have a game this weekend.  Any tickets purchased prior to the game will be honored at any home game, including next weekend's home game against the New Orleans Blaze on June 13!  Again we apologize for any inconvenience.

05/01/09-After two weeks off, the Dixie Blues prepared for the toughest game of the regular season.  They were up against the undefeated 4-0 Gulf Coast Riptide, from Pensacola.   The game proved to be a fight to the end.

The Blues began with a touchdown from #2 Kim ‘Rocky’ Brown on the very first play of the game.  That set the tone for the entire first half, as they put 34 points on the scoreboard. But, it was obvious from the start that the Blues had to stop the run.  In order to do that they had to stop the Riptides’ lead running back, #40 Lakiesha Johnson from pounding the ball down the field.  They didn’t expect to see #23 Michelle Robinson become a laser and put pressure on her as well as the quarterback.  The defense stepped up, stuffing the run, stopping them in the backfield, and holding them to 12 points at the half.

The second half proved to be a task, as the Riptide began to score.  They recovered a fumble, and began to get some momentum.  The Riptide scored twice again, closing in on the lead.  But the Dixie Blues reached deep down.  There was no way they would allow the Riptide offense to take this too far.  So, quarterback #33 Brantley Mack decided to take advantage of wide open tight-end #88 Farrah Faucette and threw a bomb, as Faucette took it into the end zone.   Gulf Coast answered with yet another touchdown.  After another turnover by the Blues, Riptide got the ball yet again. The defense was relentless with pressure in the backfield allowing #8 Isis Lay to strip the ball and run it back for a touchdown.  That was enough to secure a win.  The final score:  49-36.

The Blues increase their record to 4-0.  They take on the Emerald Coast Barracudas from Panama City this Saturday night at home.
